Panic Room
2002
Drama Thriller
9/10
Panic Room is about a woman and her diabetic daughter moving into their new house which includes a panic room, but three burglars end up breaking in and searches for a missing fortune.
The aspects of the trailer I liked was that it starts of quite slow of the mum and daughter looking at their new home, this was a good way to introduce the film, to show the audience what it is about but not showing too much plot. The trailer then starts to build up after they find the panic room where music starts up, and the camera slowly pans around the room, giving the audience a idea of what the film is about. I love how when the mum goes into her daughters room to tuck her in, the trailer starts to speed up a lot, and the camera pans down the staircase and zooms into the door handles. After this the music starts to build up when the daughter locks herself in the panic room, while her mum is still in the house with the burglars. This is too keep the audience on the edge of their seat and giving them teasers if the mum will survive, with these three crazy burglars. On the other hand, the slow motion gives off a dramatic effect when the child and the mother is running to the panic room.
The aspects of this trailer that where not too successful to me was that it was a little too long, and they should show less to keep people waiting till the movie hits the Cinemas. I also thought they showed less of the burglars, but then again it builds up tension.
Altogether, I loved the trailer just as much as the movie. I think the trailer sells of the film and gives a genuine reflection of the film. The trailer also plays on the audiences head to make them think what would happen if that was them.
