Freddy Krueger Character Analysis

Freddy Krueger is from A Nightmare On Elm Street film series, "If Nancy Doesn't Wake Up Screaming She Won't Wake Up At All..." He's the main antagonist of the films. He first makes his appearance in a Wes Craven film on Elm Street, in 1984 as a disfigured, deformed serial killer who has a glove with razor between the fingers, to kill his victims in their dreams, causing their death in real life as well. His first name was 'Fred Krueger' in the original film and played by Robert Englund.

Freddy Krueger is commonly known by his identity, burnt, disfigured face, red and dark green sweater, brown hat and a brown leather glove on his right hand with metal claws on. In the dream , he is a powerful force that likes to cause damage, but in the real world he's weak. Before this, his mother (Amanda Krueger) was a nun, who was raped 100's of times. When she was found she was barely alive and gave birth to Fredrick Charles Kruger, who was born in February , and was moved to different foster homes throughout his childhood causing him hate. The killing started when he was young, by killing small animals, when he grew to adulthood he brutally killed his step-dad with a razor, because of all the abuse he caused.

Freddy finally returns to his hometown of Springwood where all he seems to see is 'happy perfect  families'. While the jealousy and hatred builds up he becomes the most horrific child killers alive. Putting  everything aside for awhile, he settles down and has a family, while plotting for his revenge. While he works at the plant he constructs the 6 inch bladed glove for his killing spree. In the end Freddy becomes the Springwood Slasher, from 1975-1977 he kidnapped and killed 23 children. Later on, his wife discovers the bladed glove and the newspaper clippings in the basement. Freddy starts to get paranoid and strangles his wife in front of his scared little girl.

Afterwards, Freddy was arrested and charged of murders of his wife and the children, while his little girl gets puts into a foster home like he did. Somehow things don't go right and he is realised. The un-happy/angry parents take the law into their own hands by taken Freddy into the building he killed his victims, to set him alight. This is how he originates to the mortal combat franchise.

Since all the Nightmare Elm Street films have been made the character has won awards for best villain at the Scream Awards, and is one of the most well-known horror characters.

Dawn Of The Dead Image Analysis

This scene is from Dawn Of The Dead (1978), where Stephen also known as Flyboy is very poor at shooting. We've already seen how weak he is in a previous scene where a zombie lands on him and he’s struggling to get the hammer. He tries to shot the slow moving zombie in the head but misses a number of times, and that’s where Roger steps in a do it straight away. Stephen and the gun arguably represents his relationship with Fran (falling apart), because the gun is used as phallic symbol and he can’t use it probably. We see more of this near enough at the ending where him and Fran are just sitting up together staring into space.

In this film Romero likes to twist the characters, like Stephen should be the male hero as he was considered the “attractive one” back then, but instead he’s useless. On the other hand, a black man and a blonde woman are the true heroes of the film serving together. Fran being blonde challenges the idea of the female victim, and Peter being a black hero which a lot of people didn't like back then.

In this medium shot I notice two things, which Stephan looks well dressed and quite a stuck up posh person and Roger on the other hand is dressed in work clothes, working for the SWAT . Roger’s clothes connote he knows what he’s doing and he can handle danger.
