30 Days Of Night
2007
Vampire, Horror
8.5/10
The film is about a Alaskan town that is in darkness for a month, and is attacked by vampires.
At the beginning of the trailer there is a jump scare which captures the attention of the audience to make them want to watch more. After the jump scare it is followed up with collision cuts after one after another, making it more tense. This is a great way to keep the audience engaged. During the trailer we get a number of inter titles in a perfect front that is to do with the film (vampires), telling us some of the plot, which is animated well showing dripping blood and it's very gritty like the film. The trailer is very fast paced and towards the end the screen goes red, indicating there's a lot of danger and blood. Furthermore the music fits perfectly with the pace of the trailer, giving the audience a thrill and keeping them on the edge of their seat wanting to see more.
The aspects of the trailer that I thought was unsuccessful, was that there was too many fade out and too many clips which the audience might find it hard to keep up with. I also thought they didn't show much gore which the film manly has loads of it in. On the other hand, I like the that we don't see much of the vampires, so it makes us want to see the actual film to find out more. I think the target audience for this film will be between the ages of 18-24, because it's something that would appeal to a lot of teenage students.
