Dawn Of The Dead 2004 Scene Analysis
This scene is where Ana and the rest of the survives are about to get off to the island, where they are hoping to live their life in peace. The flag next to Ana is the American flag which represents freedom and patriotism, we see this a lot during the film where the flag is either next to her or Kenneth, which shows their good American-ness. Furthermore, back in the 1970's horrors where often based on real life advents, like DOTD (1979) Vietnam War and this remake, terrorism. On the other hand, Ana in this scene is the final girl, who is blonde which challenges character stereotypes. Ana is also a nurse so she can handle any body horror, and can help if anyone's injured, (being a female hero but in a modern context). Throughout the film her costume that she wears is either baggy trousers, jeans or tank tops which shows she doesn't care what she looks like, and she is a lot more tougher then Fran in the original Dawn Of The Dead by George A. Romero.
